What Our Customers Say

"Best Steak EVER"

We popped over to NI to watch some Rugby. One of our party is from Banbridge so knew about this hidden gem! When speaking to locals about where we were dining that night, everyone I spoke to and I mean everyone recommended the Steak Downshire.

I of course obliged and wasn't disappointed at all. It is without doubt the BEST steak I have ever had! Not short on portion size either! A massive sirloin cooked to perfection, butterflied and packed with stuffing! It was mouth watering!

We visited with a party of 12 and every one of us was very impressed with the food, drink, atmosphere and craic!

When we return, a second visit will be on he cards!

"Sunday family lunch highly recommended."

We had a family Sunday lunch in the Downshire catering for 45 people, I just wanted to share the experience.
Our order was pre booked and meal was served on time, the standard of the food was exceptional and the Seafood Chowder was the best I have ever had.
We were seated in an area with our own private bar, the area well catered for all present including young children and importantly the meal was very well priced.
Standard of service, food and suroundings were all excellent, If you are thinking of a large family lunch I would highly recommend giving the Downshire a call.

"Bar meal highly recommended"

As a Banbridge resident I have visited several time for a meal with my husband but this visit we were on route to the airport with some friends and popped in for dinner.
The chef must have changed because although it was the same menu there has been a massive leap forward in the quality of presentation and an improvement in the food (which was good to start)
One of our group had soup and the other 3 pâté groans of pleasure all round.
Mains were slow cooked lamb (our friend is still talking about it and salivating as he renembers!!) goujons and the 2 girls had ffloyds chicken. I enjoyed mine but our friend felt it was a little dry (you definitely needed the garlic sauce that comes with it) but I thought very tasty.
We can't comment on dessert we were stuffed!! The side dishes were massive also.
It bar was extremely busy we were very lucky to get a table but grab a beer and the bar join in the Craic you won't regret the wait!

"Restaurant ... Simply the best"

I have regularly ate in the restaurant.

On no occasion can I say that I have left this establishment unhappy, the "bar food" menu quite simply is a menu that would compete against any A la Carte menu.

The menu is diverse and meets all range of people's tastes.

The special menu which changes daily is a hidden gem.

I would highly recommend if your in the Banbridge locality to look no further and not go past here if your hungry. You certainly won't leave disappointed.
